LCPD Seeks State Re-accreditation

The La Crosse Police Department announces application for re-accreditation through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG). On May 21, 1998 the La Crosse Police Department became one of the first law enforcement agencies in the State of Wisconsin to become accredited by WILEAG. The La Crosse Police Department was the first law enforcement agency in Wisconsin to become re-accredited by WILEAG in 2004. The La Crosse Police Department is currently seeking re-accreditation for the 4th time.

The accreditation process is a voluntary commitment to law enforcement excellence by maintaining compliance to a body of standards deemed essential to the protection of the life, health, safety and rights of the citizens that the La Crosse Police Department serves.

From April 22 – 24, 2014 the La Crosse Police Department will undergo assessment to ensure that it continues to meet the standards of best professional practices set forth by WILEAG. As part of the on-site assessment, members of the community are invited to a public information session to offer comments regarding the La Crosse Police Department’s ability to comply with WILEAG standards.  This session is being conducted on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 starting at 5:00PM. at the La Crosse Community Policing Center (713 St. James Street, La Crosse, Wisc.). The public is also invited to offer comments by calling 608-789-7252 on April 23rd between the hours of 1:00PM and 3:00PM.
