Today marks the 2nd Annual National “Choose to be G.R.E.A.T. Day” and the beginning of “Choose to be G.R.E.A.T. Week”! This event was created by the National G.R.E.A.T. Policy Board and is described as a way to “draw awareness to the Program and to give the students a sense of community as well as a sense of pride in their G.R.E.A.T. skills taught in the lessons of the Program.”
Recently, La Crosse Police Department Sergeant Tom Walsh, who serves as the Regional Administrator for the G.R.E.A.T. Midwest Atlantic Region, received notice that Governor Scott Walker has also proclaimed today, October 19, 2015 as “Choose to be G.R.E.A.T. Day” in the State of Wisconsin!
As part of the celebration today, area students will be signing the official G.R.E.A.T. pledge.
I pledge to use my G.R.E.A.T skills to reduce violence in my community, work to resolve conflicts peacefully, and stop bullying whenever I see it.”
Join us and our area elementary and middle school children in celebrating “Choose to be G.R.E.A.T. Day”!
