The La Crosse Police Department is saddened by the news of the senseless violence that took the life of a former La Crosse Police Officer Scott Von Lanken (see news story link below). Scott worked for the La Crosse Police Department as a Civil Service Employee in 1978 and then was hired as an Officer in 1982. In 1987 he resigned his position as a police officer to pursue the calling of being a Pastor. His connection to our agency continued with the hiring of his brother-in-law Officer Eric Christianson who just recently retired from the La Crosse Police Department.
Though Scott may have chosen another career path and left the agency some time ago, he was still a part of the La Crosse Police family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, co-workers and loved ones.
