LCPD Recognized by Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse

BGCThis past Friday night, the La Crosse Police Department was recognized at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse’s annual Wall of Fame Banquet. The La Crosse Police Department was presented with the “Distinguished Service Award” for the variety of community-based programs the agency is involved in.

One of the hallmark programs that has garnered much attention since its inception in 2014 is the “Neighborhood Resource Officers”. This program consists of six officers, split into three teams of two officers who are assigned to specific neighborhood areas.  These officers develop knowledge and relationships with the people, businesses and organizations within the neighborhoods.  This relationship building is key to open communications between the community and the police department; ultimately resulting in better service to the community.

The Neighborhood Resource Officer program is a compliment to the other long-standing community-based efforts at the La Crosse Police Department. These other areas include our summer youth programming (PLAY & Camp Send a Kid), DARE, GREAT, and Neighborhood Watch.

“An award of this nature is a direct reflection on the officers that work the streets of La Crosse every day,” Chief Tischer stated when asked how he felt about receiving the award at the banquet.

The men and women of the La Crosse Police Department would like to thank the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse’s for this recognition.
