La Crosse Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at about 6:55 am this morning.
La Crosse Police initially received a call of people breaking into the residence at 417 8th Street South. The resident reported that 2 or 3 people had broken in and he had shot at the intruders with a pistol but did not know if he had hit anyone with the shot. At about the same time police received a report of a gunshot victim coming into a local hospital.
At this time there is no addition information available on the condition of the individual shot and there is no one in custody. This is an active investigation with more information to come when available.
