October Proving to be a Busy Month for La Crosse Police

In the last 30 days, La Crosse Police have responded to many calls involving guns. This continues the alarming trend with our calls for service over the last three years.  We have done press releases in the past focusing on the increase of gun calls, shots fired calls and felon in possession of firearm arrests. We included charts and numbers showing a notable increase in these areas for the last 3 years.  For some people, numbers and charts don’t explain the problems we are facing as a community when it comes to gun crimes.

To better explain how problematic gun crimes have been in the last 30 days, we have attached a collection of notes from our shift commanders.  These are simply notes of calls handled by our officers during the course of a shift and are intended to let other department members know what has been happening on the streets. Although they were never intended to be used for press releases, we feel these notes can provide our community with a clearer, “unvarnished” view of the problem.

While this information is alarming, we feel it is import for you to know about it. Additionally, it is important for you to know that we are aggressively working to investigate these incidents and address the problem.  We have already made arrests in several of these incidents. La Crosse Police have, and will continue to, work with both our local and federal prosecutors to keep our community safe.

Thank you LCPD for keeping me aware of situations in our community. From time to time I think I hear shots but have never reported them because I don’t have enough information to pass on to you. You have my information for a general information update.
