Armed Burglar Arrested in Act

DixonEarly this morning, a resident of 315 9th Street N was awoken in his bedroom by a stranger standing over him holding a flashlight.  When the startled suspect fled his apartment, the complainant called 9-1-1 and reported a burglary in process.  He observed the suspect trying to access other apartments, checking for doors that were unlocked, and saw him enter through one.

At 3:38AM, Officers then responded to the neighboring apartment at 317 9th Street N and found the front door to be standing open.  Officers quickly surrounded the complex and entered the apartment.  Upon entering and searching the unit, Officers located the suspect hiding behind a corner wall in one of the bedrooms.  The suspect, Adonis M. Dixon (DOB 01/18/1995), was holding the flashlight and a large knife.  Dixon was ordered to drop the weapon was placed under arrest.  During their search of Dixon, Officers found two iPods and a small bag of methamphetamine.

Adonis M. Dixon has been charged with Burglary, Burglary-Armed with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of Methamphetamine.

At the time of the arrest, Dixon was located in an unoccupied bedroom due to the resident being at work.  However, the two other residents of this apartment were asleep in their own bedrooms.  Dixon is believed to be responsible for several other entries in La Crosse in which he entered other unlocked apartments and homes.

This is a reminder to all homeowners and apartment residents to make sure to lock and secure all doors and windows to homes, apartments, garages, and vehicles.
