Alternate Side Parking Starts Nov. 1st

Starting Sunday morning, November 1st, at 1:00AM, alternate side parking goes into effect in the City of La Crosse and lasts until April 1, 2016.  The ordinance reads as follows:

44-107 Night Parking Alternate Sides of Street – Between 1:00AM and 6:00AM, from November 1 to April 1, vehicles shall be parked only on even-numbered sides of the street on those nights when an even calendar date (after midnight), and on odd-numbered sides of the street on those nights with an odd calendar date (after midnight), except where parking is normally permitted only on one side of the street, vehicles may be parking on that permitted side every night.

Failure to properly park your vehicle on the street will result in a parking citation as follows:

Parking Violation Table

During periods of heavy snow, the Director of Public Works, or designee, may designate a Snow Disposal Period as provided for in Municipal Code 44-107(e).  Failure to obey alternate side parking rules during a snow disposal period will result in a fine that is triple those found in the Alternate Side Parking Violation Table (above).  The City may also tow your vehicle.

Once this designation has been made, it will be posted to the City website under “News and Announcements” and will be provided to local news media.  To receive instant notification, “like” the City’s Street Department Facebook page.
