LCPD Officer Whitney Hughes Receives Award

Officer Whitney Hughes

La Crosse Police Officer Whitney Hughes.

Please join us in congratulating La Crosse Police Officer Whitney Hughes who was recently recognized by the La Crosse Area Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assault Task Force for her service to our community.

Officer Hughes was presented with the “Law Enforcement Award” at the annual Domestic Abuse Sexual Assault Recognition Banquet held Thursday, October 29th.

The La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office nominated Officer Hughes for the compassion she showed while working with the victim of a domestic incident in July 2015.  They also noted how Officer Hughes’ initial investigation and follow-up led to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator in that incident.

Officer Hughes has been with the La Crosse Police Department since February 2014.  Prior to her service here in La Crosse, Officer Hughes served the Postville, Iowa Police Department and was a K-9 Handler.  Whitney’s husband, Officer Steve Hughes, is also a La Crosse Police Officer.

When my 16 year old was in a car accident, officer Hughes was very kind to my shaken up daughter. It meant a lot!
