The La Crosse Police Department is pleased to announce that on March 17, 2017 Assistant Police Chief Robert Abraham successfully completed the 267th Session of the FBI National Academy. Asst. Chief Abraham was one of 227 law enforcement executives to graduate on that day from the National Academy. Asst. Chief Abraham’s classmates included law enforcement representatives from 48 states, the District of Columbia, 25 International countries, three military organizations and eight federal civilian organizations. FBI Director James Comey was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the FBI National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, offers ten weeks of advanced law enforcement leadership training for selected law enforcement officers having a proven record as a professional in their agency. Officials who attend the National Academy must be nominated by the chief executive of their agency and vetted through the FBI’s process before being selected.
Asst. Chief Abraham attended daily classes during the ten-week program on topics including Employment Law, Leadership Essentials, Media and Communications, Investigative Forensics, Leading At-Risk Employees as well as the required FBI fitness training. Asst. Chief Abraham earned 6 graduate and 11 undergraduate credits through an accreditation partnership between the National Academy and the University of Virginia.
Less than one percent of all law enforcement officers are selected to attend the FBI National Academy. Asst. Chief Abraham joins an elite group of 49,913 graduates who represent the alumni of the FBI National Academy since its inception in 1935. Other active La Crosse Police FBI National Academy alumni include Chief Ron Tischer, Captain Shawn Kudron and Lieutenant Patrick Hogan.
