Last night (11-29-17) at 5:38 pm La Crosse Police were dispatched to area of South Ave at 7th St. for a motor vehicle accident. Police determined a vehicle operated by Travis Brewer of La Crosse was travelling north bound on South Ave approaching 7th St. when he struck a pedestrian (Eric Emerson of La Crosse). According to witnesses at the scene Mr. Brewer had a green light for the north bound traffic when Mr. Emerson abruptly attempted to cross South Ave.
Mr. Emerson was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and is currently being maintained on life support. Mr. Brewer was cited for driving after suspension and no carrying mandatory automobile insurance. The Wisconsin State Patrol was called upon to assist with the crash investigation.
