Yesterday (November 14, 2017) at 2:38PM, Neighborhood Resource Officers observed a vehicle with two persons acting suspicious inside. Upon a closer look, the Officers recognized the vehicle from a previous incident where they arrested Kong Vang. The Officers could see the passenger slouching down, attempting to not be seen.
Neighborhood Resource Officers stopped the vehicle near 900 Farnam St. and did make contact with the passenger, Kong Vang. Dispatch advised there was an active felony warrant for Kong’s arrest. When they went to arrest him, there was what appeared to be a meth pipe in the inside door handle where Vang was sitting in plain view. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found meth in a hidden compartment inside of the vehicle and a loaded hand gun in the glove box. Ultimately both Kong Vang and the driver Pader Yang dob: 05/24/1990 of Oakdale MN were taken into custody.
Neighborhood Resource Officers recognized Kong Vang because in February of 2016 the Neighborhood Resource Officers arrested him with approximately $10,000.00 of meth and $5,600.00 cash. The La Crosse County Courts “stayed” a 3 year prison sentence and allowed him to serve a 6 month jail sentence on electronic monitoring.
Kong Vang’s first felony conviction was in 2009 when he was found guilty of shooting up a house as part of a gang initiation in the town of Onalaska. He was sentenced to prison for one year in La Crosse Circuit Court. Since that time he has been taken into custody multiple times for warrants, probation violations and the aforementioned drug arrest.
Kong Vang was charged with:
- Possession of Meth with the Intent to Deliver
- Felon in Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Department of Corrections Felony Warrant
Pader Yang was charged with:
- Possession of Meth with the Intent to Deliver
