Felon in Possession of Firearm Arrests After K9 Alert – Drugs, Gun and Money Seized:

On August 4th at about 3:00 pm La Crosse Police responded to a suspicious activity of possible drug dealing in the area of 1931 Victory St. involving a black Cadillac. Responding officers did locate the black Cadillac which was now being driven; however, it had a license plate registered to a Town & Country van.  Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at 3700 Mormon Coulee Rd.

Canine Team Officer Bowe and Canine Zaback assisted on the traffic stop. During an exterior sniff of the vehicle Zaback alert to the presence of drugs.  The subsequent search of the vehicle located a loaded 9mm handgun, over $10,000 cash, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and substances believed to be methamphetamine and heroin.  The following individuals were taken into custody and charged with the following as part of this incident:

Preston D. Allen DOB 11/06/1964 and is listed not to have a permanent address:

  • Felon in Possession of Firearm
  • Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Possession with the Intent to Deliver Heroin
  • Bail Jumping
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Diaunte J. Shields DOB 05/02/1980 of Pleasant Prairie WI:

  • Felon in Possession of Firearm
  • Possession with the Intent to Deliver Heroin
  • Credit Card Violation
  • Possession of False Identification
  • Probation Violation

This is a prime example of the La Crosse Police Department Canine program making La Crosse safer – Job well done Zaback and all officers involved.

      Thank you officers for doing a great job, again!! Now judges please keep them in jail!! These officers risk their life to capture these criminals so please think about our communities safety, too!!
