Drug Investigation Leads to Traffic Stop and 3 Search Warrants in La Crosse

La Crosse Police Investigative staff, along with Neighborhood Resource Officers, had a busy night Thursday. At approximately 2:51PM a car driven by James A. Connor III (DOB: 07/23/1975) was stopped in the 600 Block of South 7th Street as part of an ongoing Narcotics Investigation. Officer Dakota Jelinski and his K-9 partner Thor were deployed and conducted an open air sniff which resulted in a positive alert for narcotics. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle which resulted in them locating 63.8 grams of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The vehicle Connor was driving was also seized as part of this investigation. James Connor was subsequently arrested and jailed on the following charges:

  • Bail Jumping (Two Counts)
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver, Methamphetamine, 50+ grams
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Delivery of Meth 10-50 grams
  • Delivery of THC less than 200 grams
  • Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place

Upon completion of the traffic stop, three search warrants were granted in connection with this investigation. Search warrants were conducted on residences at 2914 and 2916 South 23rd Street, as well as at 1443 Green Bay Street. The La Crosse Police Emergency Response Team was utilized to serve these three warrants.

Julia Hedum (DOB 01/20/1978) was taken into custody during the search of the residences on 23rd Street. A total of 51.3 grams of marijuana was recovered as a result of this search warrant. Julia Hedum was charged with the following:

  • La Crosse County Warrant (3 warrants)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Felony Bail Jumping

The search warrant which was conducted at 1443 Green bay Street resulted in police recovering 188 grams of marijuana, 15.1 grams of methamphetamine, and $10,511 in cash. Zue S Vang (DOB 07/15/1978) was arrested as a result of this warrant.  Vang was charged with the following:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine 10-50 grams
  • Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana <200 grams
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Due to this ongoing investigation, a large amount of illegal narcotics has been removed from our community.
