La Crosse Police Arrest Shooter from Weekend Incident

La Crosse Police have arrested Robert Powell IV (DOB 02-06-1991) of La Crosse as the suspect in this past weekend’s shooting incident.

In the early morning hours of July 28th at 1:33am, Officers patrolling the downtown area heard a gunshot fired in the area of Who’s On Third, 126 3rd Street North. The initial investigation found there had been an altercation which took place outside the bar in the middle of 3rd Street. During this incident, an unknown subject fired a single shot from a pistol into the air and fled the area on foot before officers were able to make contact.

Through use of public and private video footage, La Crosse Police Investigators were able to identify Mr. Powell as the suspect seen firing the pistol in the air. This morning at approximately 11:40 am La Crosse Police located Mr. Powell at 1414 Bainbridge St. He was taken into custody without incident and is being referred to the District Attorney’s on the following charges:

  • 2nd Degree Reckless Endangering Safety
  • Felon in Possession of Firearm
  • Disorderly Conduct

Mr. Powell is considered innocent until proven guilty.
