The La Crosse Police Department is investigating a report of shots fired in the 1200 Block of 5th Avenue South, during the overnight hours of September 12, 2019.
On September 12th, 2019 at 5:25AM La Crosse Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of 5th Avenue South for a report of an entry to vehicle complaint. During the course of the investigation, a review of the homeowner’s surveillance camera was conducted and police learned that shots were fired during this incident. No injuries occurred as a result of the shooting, however police do need the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
While reviewing the surveillance cameras, it shows the suspect approach the victim’s car and remove the front cowling/bumper off of it. The suspect is then observed leaving north on 5th Avenue approaching Johnson Street. Based on video surveillance, shots can be seen being fired from the suspects vehicle. The shots struck the victims residence on 5th Avenue South, and one round can be seen striking the victims car, damaging windows.
The suspect appears to be a male, wearing a black and white plaid flannel type shirt, with knee length shorts and white socks.
No injuries occurred as a result of this shooting, and we are continuing to actively investigate this situation.
We are hopeful the surveillance video from the doorbell system will help in identifying the individual(s) involved in this incident.
