LCPD Squad Car Hit

On Friday, March 28, 2014 at approximately 9:35PM, a La Crosse Police Officer and Police Reserve were working on a DOT OWI Grant when they stopped to help a stranded motorist at 100 Lang Drive south of Monitor Street facing north.

The Officer and Reserve were in the squad with the emergency lights activated when the squad was rear-ended by a Dodge Durango Sport Utility Vehicle heading north on Lang Drive.

As a result of the crash, both the Officer and Police Reserve were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and later released.

The driver of the striking vehicle (Dwayne L. Anderson, 52 years of age) was also transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and will be charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated/Causing Injury. The driver of the stranded vehicle was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash and was up on the sidewalk area.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene and is investigating the crash. The La Crosse Fire Department and Tri-State Ambulance also assisted at the scene of the crash. Please see the attached photos to see the extent of damage done to the vehicles from the crash.
