La Crosse Police have received the autopsy report from the Dane County Medical Examiner’s office for the Shannon A. Richardson death investigation.
Deputy Medical Examiner Agnieszka Rogalska M.D. concluded “It is my medical opinion that Shannon A. Richardson died of hypothermia after prolonged exposure to an extremely cold environment, while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, and inappropriately dressed for the weather.” The toxicology report showed a blood alcohol concentration of .221. Dr. Rogalska reports that “Alcohol contributes to hypothermia through vasodilation and increased heat loss, as well as impaired judgement, coordination and sensation.” Ultimately the death is ruled “accidental”.
